However, despite those appeals this business no longer lives up to the hype of its reputation. Especially with the rise of Mixed Martial Arts tournaments. Which is also like a dimmed down version of the Roman Colosseum with rules. Now head to head, the modern day Wrestling landscape just doesn't stand a chance. But this is only because of a few things that are currently plaguing the industry as a whole. One of them being the fact that there aren't stars big enough to keep interest, the second being that the stars that can build interest are mishandled and last but not least the corporate takeover.
A monopoly that just wont go away and is currently even eating away at the business responsible for it.
But realistically, its way more then that considering there are appealing aspects of Wrestling that Mixed Martial Art's doesn't have. Baring less risk then the average fighter who dukes it out in the octagon but some risk never the less. Plus an entertainment factor that has just been held back by poor decision making and its own lack of finances. Challenges no longer able fixable thanks to lack of interest in the business as a whole. One of the major reasons being that the monopoly that currently hurts this industry does not allow the existence of this sport to grow.
Somethings are better separated for the sake of adding variety to entertainment itself. But when greed is involved it seems no industry can survive the aftermath. I don't feel MMA has this problem since a variety of companies surface for the sake of the sport with out consuming each other. Where as WWE wipes the landscape of what ever interesting venues add appeal to its own sport. Even if and when it can no longer build intrigue themselves. So my prediction is that between the two that compete for the spot of being the modern day Roman Colosseum – MMA will soon hold that mantle.
